Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of ZapResume — the resume-building service available at zapresume.io and related domains. ZapResume is operated by SoSo Resume EOOD ("we", "us", "our"), a Bulgarian limited liability company.

By creating an account or using any part of the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use ZapResume.

1. The service

ZapResume is an online resume-building platform that lets you:

  • Create, edit, and store resumes using our templates.
  • Generate AI-powered suggestions for resume bullets, summaries, cover letters, and job-description tailoring.
  • Run an ATS (applicant tracking system) compatibility check.
  • Track job applications using a personal kanban board.
  • Download resumes as PDFs (paid tier) and share read-only public links.
  • Import existing resumes from PDF, DOCX, or LinkedIn ZIP exports.

We may add, modify, or remove features at any time. We aim to give reasonable notice for material changes.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use ZapResume. By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you have the legal capacity to enter into a contract under the laws of your country.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access.

You may create only one free account per person. Multiple accounts created to circumvent free-tier limits or trial restrictions may be suspended or terminated without refund.

4. Subscriptions and billing

4.1 Plans

  • Free tier — create resumes, share public links, and use a limited number of AI actions per lifetime (10 bullet improvements, 1 ATS deep-scan, 1 tailor-to-JD, 1 cover letter, 1 AI interview). No PDF download.
  • Premium Trial — $1.99 USD for a 7-day trial that automatically converts to your selected paid plan unless cancelled before the trial ends. Limited to one trial per person and per payment method.
  • Premium Monthly — $29.99 USD per month, billed monthly, recurring until cancelled.
  • Premium Yearly — $99.99 USD per year, billed annually, recurring until cancelled.

4.2 Trial conversion

When you start a trial, you authorise us (via Stripe) to charge $1.99 immediately and to charge the selected recurring price ($29.99 monthly or $99.99 yearly) at the end of the 7-day trial period unless you cancel before the trial ends. You can cancel at any time during the trial through the customer portal — cancellation prevents future charges; refunds for the $1.99 trial fee are at our discretion.

4.3 Recurring billing

Paid subscriptions renew automatically on the anniversary of your first paid charge until cancelled. You authorise us to charge your payment method for each renewal. Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice to active subscribers; price changes do not affect existing prepaid periods.

4.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the customer portal in your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period — you retain Premium access until that date.

4.5 Refunds

We offer a 7-day refund window from the first paid renewal charge (i.e., the first $29.99 or $99.99 invoice). To request a refund, email [email protected] from the email address on your account. After the 7-day window, refunds are at our discretion. The initial $1.99 trial fee is non-refundable unless required by applicable consumer law.

EU consumers' right of withdrawal: Under EU consumer law, you generally have 14 days to withdraw from a digital-services contract. By starting your trial and accessing Premium features (such as downloading a PDF or using paid AI flows), you expressly consent to immediate performance and waive your right of withdrawal for the portion of the service already consumed.

4.6 Payment processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details. By providing payment information, you agree to Stripe's terms in addition to ours.

4.7 Tax

Prices are listed exclusive of applicable VAT, GST, or sales tax. Where tax is required, it will be added at checkout and shown on your invoice.

5. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use ZapResume for any unlawful purpose.
  • Resell, rent, or sublicense access to the service, including by using ZapResume to create resumes for paying third-party clients on a commercial resume-writing basis. (Personal use, including helping a friend or family member free of charge, is fine.)
  • Attempt to bypass free-tier limits or trial restrictions through multiple accounts, disposable email addresses, or other circumvention.
  • Upload content that infringes intellectual property, contains malware, or violates the rights of others.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, decompile, or extract our source code or data beyond what's publicly accessible.
  • Interfere with the security, integrity, or performance of the service (rate-limit bypass, denial-of-service attempts, etc.).
  • Use the AI features to generate content that is harmful, harassing, illegal, or designed to deceive employers about material facts (e.g., fabricated work history).

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, without refund, at our reasonable discretion.

6. Your content

You retain full ownership of the content you create on ZapResume — your resumes, cover letters, application tracker entries, and any other inputs. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, process, and display this content for the purpose of providing the service to you.

You also grant us a licence to use anonymised, aggregated patterns derived from your content to improve the service (e.g., aggregate skill co-occurrence, role-transition statistics). This use is described in detail in our Privacy Policy and applies only after the strict anonymisation process described there.

7. Our intellectual property

ZapResume's software, templates, design, copy, and brand are owned by SoSo Resume EOOD or our licensors. The Terms grant you a limited, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service — they do not grant ownership of any of our intellectual property. You may use our resume templates in resumes you create with the service, but you may not redistribute the templates themselves.

8. AI-generated content

ZapResume integrates with third-party AI providers (currently Anthropic Claude) to generate suggestions, rewrites, and drafts. AI output may contain inaccuracies, fabricated details, or inappropriate phrasing. You are solely responsible for reviewing AI-generated content before using it in any job application. ZapResume does not warrant the accuracy or quality of AI suggestions.

9. Third-party services

The service relies on third-party providers including (without limitation) Stripe, Supabase, Anthropic, Hetzner, Resend, Brandfetch, PostHog, and Sentry. Their performance is outside our direct control. We are not liable for outages or data losses attributable to third-party providers, though we make reasonable efforts to choose reliable partners.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT YOU WILL GET A JOB FROM USING IT.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SoSo Resume EOOD's total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) EUR 100.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, loss of business opportunity, or job-search outcomes.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (including liability for gross negligence, intentional misconduct, or under EU consumer-protection statutes).

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold SoSo Resume EOOD harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the service, or your infringement of third-party rights.

13. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time via the account settings or by emailing [email protected]. We may terminate or suspend your account for material breach of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or extended inactivity. On termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately; we will retain and delete data as described in our Privacy Policy.

14. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sofia, Bulgaria, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence grants you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.

The European Commission provides an online dispute-resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr for EU consumers.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes will be notified to active users by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

16. Miscellaneous

  • Severability — if any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
  • No waiver — our failure to enforce any right or provision does not waive that right.
  • Assignment — you may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • Entire agreement — these Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and SoSo Resume EOOD regarding the service.
